Extra Class Days, New Enrichment Program, Fire Safety, & School Picnic

Dear Parents,

Tarrytown Nursery School is back in swing and everyone seems to be settling in nicely (especially me!).

We have some exciting news to share with you. So many of you have asked about extra days in the 2’s and 3’s and we have listened. Beginning immediately, if you would like your child to spend 4 mornings a week in the two’s we can accommodate you. The 4 day program for the two’s will run Monday-Thursday. Similarly, if you would like a 4 morning program for your 3 year old, we can accommodate you as well. The program will run Monday-Thursday. I have worked out the tuition details so call me if you are interested.

Fabulous Fridays will continue to be offered on Fridays for the 3’s and the 4’s. The drop in rate to try the program is $35. There is still time and room to sign up for this 30 week program. (Tuition will be prorated since the classes have begun).

In addition, we are currently working out the details and fees for a “Lunch Bunch After School Enrichment Program” for the 3’s and 4’s. Each day, students will have the option of eating lunch at school and then participating in an enrichment program after lunch. We are currently looking into offering; Music, Drama, Art, Yoga, and Cooking. Lunch will be for 30 minutes and then the class will run for one hour. These enrichment classes will be optional but we hope you will take advantage of them. You will be receiving more information about these and registration materials as soon as the details are finalized. (Note: we have postponed Yoga and Music on the calendar for October)

During class time on October 8, the Tarrytown Fire Department will come and talk to the 3’s and 4’s about fire safety and prevention. On or about October 14 we will have our first fire drill. The teachers will be preparing the students for this and future fire drills as mandated by NYS Department of Education. We will also have David Nielsen, a noted storyteller stopping in to tell the children some wonderful stories about Halloween on the 26th and 27th.

Don’t forget we have postponed our school picnic until October 24. The picnic will begin later in the afternoon followed by the children marching in the Tarrytown Halloween Parade. More details to follow.

Finally, after almost one month, I can honestly say that I am enjoying being at Tarrytown Nursery School and getting to know you and your children. If you get a chance, stop by for a chat and let me know what is on your mind. I am in the office Monday through Friday from 8:00 until noon.

Sincerely,

Audrey Woods (Ms. Audrey)
